Summer Skin Prep Guide
I’m going to get straight to the point with this one because quite frankly the clock is ticking and Summer is right around the corner and I’ve got work to do because pasty white skin and cellulite is not quite what I had in mind for Greece!
Whether you are going on a Mediterranean vacay or not, there is most likely a swimming suit in your near future and I want to share with you my “secrets” so that we can all look fabulous this Summer.
Step 1: Dry Brushing

Step 2: Exfoliate
This is key to silky, soft, smooth skin and a step you cannot skip prior to applying your Self-tanner (who said you can’t cheat a little?!). Don’t worry, I will share my favorite non-toxic self-tanner with you in a second. Hang tight! Click here for my favorite Salt Scrub DIY. Exfoliate 1-2 times per week and prior to applying your self-tanner.
Favorite Summer Salt Exfoliating Essential Oils:
Grapefruit: to break down fatty deposits
Zendocrine: to help with liver & kidney detox
Slim & Sassy: need I say more? This is a blend of Grapefruit, lemon, Peppermint, Ginger and Cinnamon Essential oils. It’s fabulous for revving up your metabolism, breaking down fatty deposits and it’s cooling too. Feels so good!
Step 3: Anti-cellulite blend
Cue your favorite dance song and start dancing because this is magic!
Here’s what you will need:
4 oz Glass Bottle with dropper top. You can easily find these on Amazon
4 TBS Organic Almond Oil
2 tsp Organic Carrot Seed Oil
2 tsp Gotu Kola (Centella Asiatica) Oil
2 tsp Organic Jojoba Oil
Oil Blend #1 : 24 drops Juniper Berry, 10 drops Lemon, 12 drops Geranium, 14 drops Cypress
Oil Blend #2: 16 drops Basil, 12 drops Thyme, 20 drops Grapefruit, 8 drops Juniper Berry, 4 drops Geranium
Add all oils to glass bottle and blend well before adding the essential oils. I like alternating between the two blends (it keeps your body guessing and I believe it is good practice to alternate the oils you use).
Apply the Anti-cellulite blend at night after taking a shower. Bonus-end your shower with cold water. This will help stimulate the lymph. You can also apply this blend prior to exercising. Be sure to avoid exposing to direct sunlight areas where the blend was applied (12 hours) as Citrus Oils are photosensitive.
Step 4: Non-toxic Self Tanners
Drum roll please for I have searched long and hard and finally found 2 incredible products that are safe, effective and will not leave you looking like a carrot.
For the body: Beauty by Earth
This will give you a nice golden glow. I have medium to fair skin and it takes 2-3 applications for me to achieve a rich color. Apply a thin layer all over your body and use very little product over knees and elbows. Reapply weekly to maintain color.
For the face: Eco Tan Water
Face Tan Water is a gradual liquid self tanning toner. An organic self tan specifically created for face, neck and décolletage! Face Tan Water builds to a beautiful glow, creates a youthful radiance and even reduces the need to wear foundation. I apply this to my face and neck with a cotton round daily.
Finally, make sure you are drinking plenty of water throughout the day, eating lots of veggies, healthy fats and some fruit. Also make sure to move your body at least 30 minutes every day.
