Fragrance, the new second-hand smoke.

Fragrance, the new second-hand smoke.

Perfumes are the feelings of flowers.
-Heinrich Heine

"A rose may be a rose.  But that rose-like fragrance in your perfume may be something else entirely, concocted from any number of the fragrance industry’s 3,100 stock chemical ingredients, the blend of which is almost always kept hidden from the consumer."  Environmental Working Group

Fragrance is said to be the new second-hand smoke.  Those beloved perfume bottles sitting on your bathroom counters that you spritz before a date with a charming gentleman or at the beginning of your day to envelop your being in a cloud of allure is actually a cocktail of toxic that you most likely spray directly onto your thyroid.

These chemicals do not have to be disclosed or tested for safety and are associated with diabetes, obesity, autism, ADD/ADHD and hormone disruption.
According to an Environmental Working Group study, 72% of products with the ingredient “fragrance” contained endocrine disrupters called phthalates.
Up to 95% of these synthetic chemicals used to make fragrance recipes are derived from petrochemicals, known to cause cancer, birth defects, nervous system disorders, asthma and allergies.

A 2017 Australian study found synthetic fragrances trigger respiratory problems such as coughing and shortness of breath in 1 out of 5 people and migraines in 1 out of 10.

Another 10 percent experience rashes or other skin problems when exposed.

A 2016 study found 1/3 of Americans report adverse health effects when exposed to artificial fragrances.

Breathing problems such as hay fever and asthma, found in 15-20% of North Americans, are also exacerbated by synthetic fragrance.

When “essential oil” or “natural fragrance” is listed as an ingredient it doesn’t necessarily mean that it is safe.

Most essential oils in consumer products are processed with a toxic solvent.
This is why it is so important to choose a company with integrity such as doTERRA.
The quality, purity and efficacy of dōTERRA’s oils is unrivaled.

With the growing popularity of essential oils, many companies are claiming they have pure oils, but fail to provide credible proof of that purity.  "Source To You" establishes that doTERRA, from start to finish, will provide the best possible essential oils, pure and unadulterated.  For more information visit:

It is believed that our homes are 5-10 times more toxic than the outside environment. We choose what we bring into our homes. Start reading your labels and voting with your dollar.

"While artificial and contrived perfumes affect us physiologically with sneezes, light-headedness, headaches, hormonal imbalances, and in countless other ways, pure plant perfumes (essential oils) silence sneezes and sniffles, ease sensitivities, cool aching heads, and fortify minds and emotions. They are immune enhancing and are the remedy to many synthetic-stimulated issues caused by modern-day synthetics." -Nadine Artemis
