Eastern Botox...it's all natural and affordable!

Eastern Botox...it's all natural and affordable!

Gua Sha and Crystal Rollers have been making quite the comeback lately and for good reason.  These tools are known as "Eastern Botox".  The use of crystals for skin care dates back to the 7th Century in China and the Middle Ages in ancient India. These tools are available in a range of crystals.  My favorites are Jade and Rose Quartz.  These are both delicate but powerful crystals.

Jade: Ideal for wrinkles and loose skin, jade helps raise the immunity of the skin, as well as grow new skin cells.  Jade is highly calming which makes it great for irritated skin conditions.  It also improves skin elasticity, encourages lymphatic drainage and help prevent wrinkles.

Rose Quartz: The ultimate beauty crystal, known as the Crystal of Venus, the goddess of love and beauty.  Rose quartz purifies and opens the heart at all levels, while delivering inner healing and clear complexity. This 'emotional healer' can be used to reduce and release impurities and stress in the skin.  Its best for detoxing, lifting, and softening fine lines and wrinkles, alongside draining toxins and negativity.

So what are some of the benefits of using these tools?  Improved skin tone and elasticity of the skin; natural collagen boots; reduction of puffiness and wrinkles; promotion of lymphatic drainage; toxin elimination; and tightening pores when your crystal is kept in the freezer.  Keep in mind that results are cumulative.

What is the difference between the Gua Sha and Roller? The roller is great for de-puffing the eye area, soothing the skin and promotes skin elasticity.  It's relaxing and gentle.  As far as anti-aging properties the Gua Sha is my go-to tool.  It goes a bit deeper than the roller.

How to use:

Step 1: Apply your favorite moisturizer, oil or serum.

Step 2: Starting with your chin, and then moving onto your cheeks and forehead, work from the center of your face, rolling gently outward and upward. Then make sweeping rolls from the center of your chin toward your collarbones, working outwards to the sides of your neck.

Step 3: From the center of your neck, roll outward and upward, working up to every section of your face.

Pro tip: putting your roller or wand in the fridge and freezer to keep it super cold—this is the ultimate trick for maximum de-puffing in the morning!

After each use, wipe it down with a clean cloth or wipe.  Your crystal roller can be deep-cleaned with warm water and soap the way other beauty tools are cleaned.  Make sure to pat it dry after cleaning to avoid rusting the metal.

Leave your crystal in the moonlight for the night to recharge its energy.  I like to do this once a month during the Full Moon.

In case you were wondering, I purchased both my Gua Sha and Roller from Solaris Laboratories.
