Winter Wellness Protocol
If you know me or have been hanging around this site for a while you know that I am all about prevention and supporting my body on a daily basis. This is especially important when it comes to the colder Seasons of the year when it is so easy to come down with something.
Here is my Winter Wellness Protocol:
Eat lots of Veggies, every day.
Aim for 3-4 cups a day. Also, try to eat as many different colors of veggies as you can. When it comes to your diet a good rule of thumb is: if man made it, don’t eat it. Stay clear of processed and packaged foods. These deplete your energy stores…not to mention they are empty calories. Okay, I know I sound like your mother right now.
Did you know that 75-80% of Americans are dehydrated? Our cells need water in order to function properly. Aim for 8-9 glasses per day. Dress up you water with some of doTERRA’s Citrus Oils for taste and extra detoxification properties. Have you tried Green Mandarin with Pink Pepper? It’s my latest obsession.
Move you body at least 30 minutes every single day.
This keeps your body humming, your stress at bay, hormones happy and you won’t have a panic attack when you do a “bikini test” in the Spring, if that’s your thing.
P.S. this IS a real thing in Italy. They call it “la prova costume” which literally meany “the bikini test”.
Turn all of your screens off at least one hour prior to going to bed and aim for 7-9 hours of sleep a night. Make sure your room is pitch dark and on the cooler side.
Stress wreaks havoc on our immune system.
Have you tried meditating? I love Visualization while holding a Crystal (yes, I know this might be too woo-woo for some of you) or using an app. One of my favorites is called “Insight Timer’.
I also believe in Mindfulness and practicing Gratitude. Try writing down 10 things you are grateful for each day. This trains your mind to focus more on the positive things in your life…remember, what you focus on expands. Too woo-woo? You’ll get there.
doTERRA Superstar Trio:
OnGuard Roller: roll on the bottom of your feet and/or along your spine every day for immune support and prevention.
Frankincense Roller: apply to your lymph nodes along your neck area 3-5 times a day at the first sign of something brewing.
Oregano Roller: roll on the bottom of your feet when fighting something off. It works like magic and smells like pizza!
