Himalayan Salt Body Scrub
Most body scrub's found on the market contain a long list of questionable ingredients. Not to mention that a vast majority are sugar based. I avoid sugar as much as I can in my diet so why would I slather it on my skin?
I have a better option for you...Salt! You can use Grey Sea Salt or Himalayan Pink Salt. Both are full of lovely minerals and are excellent at exfoliating our skin.
This Festive, Warming Body Scrub makes for a beautiful Holiday Gift! Purchase a cute Mason Jar (no plastic with Essential Oils unless you are using Castile Soap which forms a barrier) and a beautiful ribbon or twine and you are set. I just made several batches to gift to all the lovely women in my life.
1 1/2 to 2 cups Salt (I like to mix fine and coarse salt for a variety in texture)
1/2 to 3/4 cups Fractionated Coconut Oil (you could also use Almond Oil or Olive Oil)
4 drops doTERRA Cassia Essential Oil.
4 drops doTERRA Clove Essential Oil.
4 drops doTERRA Ginger Essential Oil.
Combine Salt and Fractionated Coconut Oil in a bowl. Add Essential Oils. Stir until the mixture is the consistency of a slushy. You may need to add more Salt or Oil for the desired consistency. Pour into an air-tight container. Stir prior to using.
I like to use this prior to taking a bath and then immerse myself into the bath water. Your skin will be soft and smell amazing afterwards...so will your bathroom.
Heres are some of the properties of the Essential Oils used in this Body Scrub:
Cassia is "Spicy & Warming". This oil helps increase blood flow, soothes any digestive upset, combats water retention & kidney infection as well as viruses and bacteria. Cassia boosts metabolism, supports blood sugar balance and has been found to increase sexual desire. Hmm, I wonder why it's in my favorite Body Scrub Recipe.
Clove is "Warm, Spicy & Protective". This oil boots the immune system so great to use n the colder, Winter months. Clove supports a healthy metabolism and thyroid. It's great to use when fighting off a cold, virus, infection or parasites.
Ginger is "Warming & Stimulating". This oil brings comfort to sore muscles and helps with muscle spasms and cramps. It's known for its soothing properties for nausea, motion sickness, heartburn and acid reflux. Ginger is also a wonderful oil to use when experiencing blood sugar and hormone imbalances. Apply this essential oil, with a carrier oil, over your chest, bridge of nose and throat when congested. It can be taken internally as well to soothe a sore throat. I suggest adding it to a teaspoon of honey and warm water.
You can also customize this Scrub depending on your preference or favorite Essential Oils:
