Essential Oils for Beautiful Hair
I was blessed with lots of hair, according to my hairdresser, but it's baby fine hair.
Growing up in Italy I was a hair model. My hair was over teased, highlighted and over styled using several harsh products. I will never forget the time my whole head of long hair was teased for a show. The makeup that day was very dramatic and heavy. After the show I ran to my dear friend Claudia's Hair Salon in Trani, Puglia. When she opened the door she didn't even recognize me. I had been crying and my cheeks were lined with dark streaks of makeup. She patiently combed my hair while I cried "cut it, just cut it". After several tears, a few hours and an entire tub of Biolage Conditioner my hair was back but severely damaged. I think that marked the end of allowing hair stylists to tease my hair.
Fast forward to my thirties when hormonal and thyroid issues left my hair in a desperate state. I lost lots of hair and had to cut it off. Let's just say that short hair doesn't suit my face.
I thought I was doing all I could to promote healthy, strong hair with my diet and using expensive Kerastase hair products.
Along with a healthy diet, the Lifelong Vitality Supplements, Bone Broth and Vital Proteins Collagen, these are the Essential Oils from doTERRA that have helped restore my hair.
I now use doTERRA's Salon Protecting Shampoo and Smoothing Conditioner. This line is filled with incredible Essential Oils that help nourish and strengthen hair. It is also free of toxins, a non-negotiable for me. Remember that whatever we apply to our skin and hair is absorbed into our bloodstream. I highly recommend you check out the EWG.org website to see how your products rate on the toxicity scale.
These are some of my favorite Essential Oils that I like to add to my shampoo and conditioner. 1-2 drops is all you need as these are Therapeutic-Grade Essential Oils and highly effective.
- Lavender: keeps hair and scalp clean, thick, and healthy
- Sandalwood: Improves the overall look of hair
- Melaleuca: keeps hair thick, clean and healthy
- Geranium: keeps the scalp looking healthy, clean, and provides hair with a healthy, vibrant glow
- Clary Sage: promotes healthy looking hair and scalp for fragile hair
- Grapefruit: promotes hair growth and helps rejuvenate hair. It's also a great oil to use if you have oily hair.
- Cypress: do you have oily hair? Apply this oil to shaft (not scalp)
- Ylang Ylang: increases healthy, shiny hair
- Rosemary: apply for an abundant looking head of hair and promote hair growth
