Healthy Bites in London
Ah, London. What a great city. I just returned from a work trip where I was so fortunate to spend a week in London. I got to visit with some of my closest friends, explore the city and eat at some of my favorite healthy food spots. I also found my new favorite florist! If you are ever in the Mayfair area go visit Wild Things Flowers. Simply stunning!
First stop was one of Deliciously Ella's Deli's. This time I checked out her new location in the Mayfair area on Weighhouse Street. I have been a fan of Ella's for quite some time and own a few of her cookbooks. After having spent a week in Florence, where I ate meat every single day, had far too much wine and gelato...twice a day, I was in much need of some vegetable based meals and green smoothies. I thouroughly enjoyed the Seasonal Falafel Plate and the Green Glow Smoothie. I also stocked up on her Cacao & Almond Energy Bars. They are similar to my "5 Minute Brownies" and great to have on hand while traveling for a healthy and satisfying snack.
My other "must visit" lunch spot is one of Ottolenghi's Deli's. I am a proud owner of every single one of Yotam Ottolenghi's cookbooks, with the exception of the dessert one as I am gluten-free. I love all the fun spices and vegetables used in his recipes. Every New Years Eve I make a spread of 4-5 of his vegetable and grain dishes. Then my husband and I make a roast of some sort. It's a lot of fun, not to mention so tasty. I visited the Belgravia location which is mostly a take-away shop but it does have a communal table and some seating outside, weather permitting. My friends and I took advantage of a beautiful, sunny day and enjoyed fresh mint teas and plates full of vegetables at one of the tables out back. Since all three of us were flying the following day, after lunch we stocked up on some of the savory and sweet snacks for our catering.
It was a delicious work trip and I can't wait to go back!
